As a symbol of a couple’s love and commitment to each other, the wedding ring is a tangible memory of a treasured day. Since they are so special, they are often turned over to the best man for safekeeping until that special moment when the wedding vows are exchanged. Due to the importance of this commitment, it only seems natural that we would highlight its significance…..a “red carpet” moment for the wedding rings. This was accomplished by coaching an adorable little boy, dressed in a cute little tuxedo, to walk down the aisle holding a satin pillow with rings attached…usually fake rings, but sometiimes the real deal.
Today, more and more couples are developing themes for their wedding day and are looking for unique variations of this traditional element to compliment their vision. In my search for the unconventional, I came across some really inspiring ideas.
Ring Bearer Bowl’s:
A perfect addition for the modern, streamline, classic wedding, this small ceramic dish can be customized with special phrases, names and dates…a memento that can be passed down generation to generation. Caution in handling this dish would be necessary due to its breakable nature…choose your ring bearer wisely!

Oversized silk flowers:
How pretty are these…definitely a chic alternative to the traditional pillow! These oversized handmade silk flowers can be found on Etsy.com. You can choose your flower (below are Peony & Dahlia) and colour to go along with your theme and vision for your wedding.

Flower pillow:
For those of you that prefer to keep all your flowers real, here is another alternative that is sure to turn heads and keep them guessing….real or fake? Your florist can help you choose the right flowers and colours that can make this look work with your vision. If you’re a crafty person, you can turn this into a DIY project and create this yourself. You can also use silk flowers to create this look.

Bird Nest’s:
One of the hottest trends this year are the use of Bird Nests … a trend that will likely continue. If you’re going for the natural, rustic, eclectic looking, these ring holders are the perfect choice. I absolutely love these! You can find lots of choices on Etsy.com. These are just a few I found:

Beachy ring holders:
Destination weddings have been a huge trend over the years and will continue to be right through 2010. If you’re planning a destination wedding and will likely have a ring bearer on hand and like the idea of having your rings delivered to you in a unique way, there are some great beachy alternatives. These ring holders will surely catch your guest’s attention! Again some of these finds you can get on Etsy.com (can you tell this is a favourite site of mine!)
